The distance a sensor wire can run between an alarm autodialer and its contacts depends on two factors: the alarm autodialer model and wire size. Generally, the smaller the wire’s gauge, the shorter it can run. Take the Verbatim model, for example. With this system, an 18-gauge wire allows 33 miles between the alarm autodialer and contact, but go down to 20-gauge, and the distance drops to 20 miles. Take it down to 24 gauge, and the limit falls to 8 miles. See sensor wire information for all of RACO’s models in a handy chart on our website.
